The number 88 is arguably the most popular receiver number in the NFL, and it's often associated with greatness. In the city of Dallas, the number has to be "passed on". On Sunday, the players donning this jersey number didn't disappoint. They accounted for 48 catches, 601 yards, and 9 tds!
Tony Gonzalez: ATL: 12, 149, 2
Demaryius Thomas: DEN: 9, 86, 2
Dez Bryant: DAL: 6, 81, 2
Pierre Garson: WAS: 6, 59, 1
Garrett Graham: HOU: 5, 69, 1
Jeff Maehl, PHI: 2, 43, 1
Emmanuel Sanders: PIT: 4, 57
Former Dallas Cowboys Hall of Famer Michael "The Playmaker" Irvin (#88) would be proud. follow @plcolter

Fantasy Football Focus: Week 4: Bye Week Replacements
What up football family?!?! Welcome to week 4 of the fantasy football season. Or better known as...the start of the dreaded bye weeks. Although there are only 2 teams on bye this week (Green Bay, Carolina), they account for two starting fantasy qb's and a host of starting skill players. If you are down one of these players...or need waiver wire help for other reasons....then you're at the right place! The crew is back with the fantasy news you can use for week 4.
So LETS...GET...STARTED!!!
Big Ben Roethlisberger: QB, Pittsburgh
If you're down Aaron Rogers or Cam Newton, or have a really poor match up with your starter this week, then you may want to take a look at Big Ben. The Steelers defense is already looking historically bad, and Roethlisberger is having to throw to stay in games. That's a great combination for a one week qb replacement, especially with Roethlisberger facing Minnesota this week. Not only are the Vikings giving up 316 yards a game through the air, they gave up over 300 yards to some dude name Brian Hoyer last week. Roethlisberger is averaging over 325 yards a game the last two games.
Bilal Powell: RB, New York Jets
Powell had a breakout game last week against Buffalo, racking up 149 rushing yards on 27 carries. Powell should be on most waiver wires, and is worthy of being a one week replacement. Even though the Titans currently have a top ten defense, they've giving up rushing td's the past two weeks. Jets rb Chris Ivory has yet to practice this week, and his status for Sunday is questionable at best. Powell will be on the field more than any other waiver wire option at rb this week.
Nick Johnson (NewYorkNick): Alex Smith: QB, Kansas City
"You remember the guy who gets hurt, tells the truth, gets benched and then gets fired. With that being said, Alex Smith is the top prospect for a replacement qb this week. Smith makes the throws to keep the chains moving, while managing the football. That should get you through until next week. Allow me to vent just a little on what we are all watching take place. Without naming any team names of course, if the gun smokes after the bullet exits the barrel, then you know it’s firing like it should. Funny how all of the sudden the Chiefs are on a hot streak and the “other team” can’t seem to keep it together. Andy Reid isn't complaining and neither are the fans. Oh, and who gets fired on their day off?" - New York Nick
Smith has an excellent match up this week against a struggling Giants defense. New York is giving up 250 yards a game through the air, and Smith has yet to turn the ball over this season.
Michael Jasso (Michigan Wolverines): Denarius Moore: WR, Oakland
If you're down Steve Smith, Randal Cobb, Jordy Nelson, ect, then you should take a real close look at Denarius Moore. Last Monday night, Moore ripped the Broncos secondary to the tune of 6/124/1. This weekend's match up is even better, as Moore draws the Redskins and their 31st ranked passing defense. Washington is giving up over 300 yards a game through the air. Perfect timing so...go pick him up....now.
***Homer Alert***
If you plan on starting Giants qb Eli Manning this week , then you my friend, are on homer alert. 2 Godzilla sized reg flags pop up this week for Manning.
1. So far this year, Manning has 5 ts and 8 int's.
2. The Chiefs defense is 5th against the pass, allowing an impressive 185 yards a game. Throw in the fact that KC has 15 sacks and four int's so far, and you have a recipe for ground hog day for Eli. Great documentary by the way.
But I digress.
Life is a sport...so always play to win! Good Luck!

2013 Jake Locker eerily similar to 99 Steve McNair
Tennessee Titans qb Jake Locker hears the questions, he knows what's at stake...and that other lives could be adversely affected if he doesn't get it done.
If this scenario sounds familiar, it's because the Titans went through the exact same thing with the late Steve McNair in 1999. In fact, if you look beyond the surface, Locker and (1999) Steve McNair's careers have been eerily similar up to this point.
Both Locker and McNair were top ten picks. Both had to sit behind veteran...albeit mediocre starting qb's their rookie year. Both were pegged out of college as good athletes playing the qb position, lacking the accuracy and smarts to read defenses on an NFL level. Both qb's were thrown into the fire as unfinished products. And both entered their third season under make or break circumstances.
The 1999 season, Tennessee's first as the Titans, began with owner Bud Adams issuing the now four famous words....
"Playoffs or pink slips"
Everyone got the message, including embattled head coach Jeff Fisher. Tennessee was coming off back to back mediocre seasons with McNair under center, and everyone's job was on the line. McNair had to get it done.
Tennessee's first home game as the Titans was a tenuous one. The underdog Bengals were in town, and held a 10 point lead late in the fourth quarter. McNair, who had been booed throughout the entire afternoon, lead two straight scoring drives to steal a victory from the jaws of defeat. It was the first time since McNair's arrival that he was considered the hero. Steve threw up his college fraternity sign...then pointed to the sky as he walked away in victory. That was a watershed game for McNair. His confidence grew and he went on to have a great career in Tennessee.
Coming into this season, owner Bud Adams wasn't as bold. But you could get the picture that head coach Mike Munchak and starting qb Jake Locker were playing for their Titans lives this year.
Munchak and Locker knew it too.
Like McNair, Locker is entering his third season under a tremendous amount of pressure. And like coach Fisher, Mike Munchak's job is directly tied to Locker's success this year. Locker's first home game of his make or break season was tenuous as well. The underdog Chargers were in town, and held a four point lead with less than two minutes left in the game. Locker capped a 94 yard drive with a game winning 34 yard td in the closing seconds.
The Bengals game in 1999 gave the Titans and their fans hope. We all know how that Super Bowl story ended. Of course I am not predicting a Super Bowl appearance for the Titans after three games. But as I watched Locker sprint toward the winning end zone with his finger pointed to the sky, I couldn't help but think of McNair...and that magical 99 season.
We will soon find out if last week's game was Locker's watershed moment. follow @plcolter

Fantasy Football Focus: Week 3: Injury Replacements
What up football family?!? Welcome to week 3 of the fantasy football season. If there was a word to describe week 2...it was injuries. Especially to our running backs. If you were hit by the early injury bug, have no fear. The crew is locked and loaded with week 3 start / sit advise.
So LETS...GET...STARTED!!!
Bernard Pierce: RB, Baltimore
Ravens starting running back Ray Rice left last week's game with a hip flexor strain, and is unlikely to play this week. Baltimore believes in back up rb Bernard Pierce, and will give him every opportunity to tote the rock this Sunday. Pierce scored a td last week, and Houston can be had on the ground. If you own Rice, you should feel comfortable plugging in Pierce until Rice returns.
Jacquizz Rodgers: RB, Atlanta
Atlanta's starting running back Steven Jackson left in the first quarter of last week's game with his own injury. By the way, don't you just hate when your player gets hurt in the first quarter?
I digress....
Back up rb Jacquizz Rodgers will get the first crack at replacing Jackson. Two red flags on Rodgers.
1. Rodgers averaged a whopping 1.5 yards on 11 carries last week. The Rams aren't exactly the 85 Bears.
2. Jason Snelling will also get plenty of touches, and probably has more upside for being a touchdown vulture.
Both players cancel each other out...and should remain on your waiver wire. Jackson is slated to be out at least three weeks, so you have a week or two to see who separates from the pack.
Some news you can use from the crew....
Michael Jasso (Michigan Wolverines) James Starks: RB, Green Bay
Packers rb Eddie Lacy also fell victim to the injury bug. His concussion will more than likely leave him sidelined until week 5. The Packers have a bye next week. One reason to bring Lacy back slowly was the performance of back up rb James Starks. He put up 158 total yards and a td. For point per reception leagues, Starks four catches only adds to his value. And do not be scared off by Cincinnati's defense. Yes, the Bengals have a better defense than the Redskins.
Everyone Does.
Green Bay tore through San Francisco's vaunted defense in week 1...the Packers will score on everyone this year. Starks should get his opportunities. A solid replacement for Lacy owners especially.
***Goin deep with DP***
For you guys and gals playing in 12 to 16 team leagues...DP is your guy. A shovel if you will...digging up treasures from your waiver wire. I mean...his name is deep deep sleepers!
Charles Clay: TE, Miami
Bye weeks are coming up next week, and several te's will have to be stashed on your bench. Charles Clay should be available in your league...and worth taking a flyer on.
Clay has quietly put up 10 /163 this season. He also scored his first touchdown of the season last week....albeit a goal line rushing touchdown. If you have the roster space, you may want to stash him now. If you have a terrible match up with your starting te this week, then Clay may be able to help. Atlanta has been terrible against the pass so far, ranking 29th in the league already.
***Death Card Alert with New York Nick***

***Death Card Alert with New York Nick***
"Its only week 3, and I can’t believe it has already come to
this. Jacksonville Jaguars, you have now been issued a Death Card. A Death Card for those who are not familiar is
when we sit anybody and everybody that plays for the Jags. It’s
over, call Sosa and issue the hit. MJD, I personally bought into your come back
and I can’t place all of the blame on you for your low productivity. This blame
is spread out amoungst the team and even the city. So the question you have to
ask is, do I just drop these players from my roster or sit on them? My answer,
forget they even exist. Delete all records and wipe all finger prints from
your draft night. Place two nickels on the eyes of the once great positional
players and hope they find peace when the boat man takes them away into the
fantasy after life. The solitary good
coming for these Jags is an off season. The countdown begins." - New York Nick
***Homer Alert***
Week 3's homer alert goes out to all of the owners of rb Trent Richardson. I know you're excited that Richardson has been literally handed to the Indianapolis Colts. In fantasy terms...Richardson's value shot out of the cellar like a rocket! But cool your jets anxious Richardson owner. 3 red flag say stay away this week.
1. Richardson may not even suit up this week for Indy.
2. If he does, his role would have to be limited from a lack of knowing the offense.
3. An angry and embarrassed 49er defense will be awaiting him for those limited touches.
Of course Richardson is a must start once he gets settled in, just be prepared to go without him this week.
Life is a sport...so always play to win! Good luck!

Titans fans should be optimistic following loss
Yes, the Tennessee Titans let one slip away in Houston Sunday afternoon. Yes, the Titans should be 2-0, and leading the division for the first time in.....in....in....?
Well...you get the point.
For those that are still feeling the sting of yesterday's loss, there is reason for optimism. For the glass half empty pessimist, I throw out these numbers....
72-23.
That was the point differential in last year's embarrassing 0-2 start. And as we all know, things went downhill from there like Tennessee was Tokyo-drifting through the 2012 schedule.
With that being said, most realistic Titans supporters would've predicted a similar fate this year for Tennessee with their first two games being played in Pittsburgh and Houston.
I think I speak for just about every Titans fan when I say that we'll take 1-1, especially with a three game home stand on the horizon.
Further cause for optimism in the Music City? Improvement.....in key areas.
Coming into the 2013 season, the biggest question concerning the Titans was the growth of their franchise qb Jake Locker...who had more interceptions than touchdowns last year. That's not even including the fumbles. So far this year, Locker has been turnover free, while connecting on two td passes. One capping a 99 yard drive to take the lead in Houston yesterday. With a revamped offensive line and running game, Tennessee will be in games late all year if Locker continues to take care of the ball. Yes, Locker was off on a crucial third down pass to Kenny Britt yesterday, but overall, he's been the game manager coach Munchak has asked him to be.
The second biggest question surrounding the Titans coming into this season was the play of the defense....a defense that gave up the most points in the league last year. Credit newly reacquired assistant defensive coordinator Gregg Williams for turning a bunch of dudes getting pushed all over the field like they were playing on roller skates into a physical unit that's pressuring the qb and forcing turnovers. Tennessee's defensive unit has forced seven sacks, three interceptions, a forced fumble recovery (in their end zone to prevent a score), and a defensive score of their own. Not bad for a unit that was the worst in franchise history just a year ago.
And let's give some credit to the Houston Texans as well...we saw them roar from behind to snatch a victory on the last play of the game last week. This particular game came down to four plays.
A missed field goal by Rob Bironas.
A second straight safety this week.
A remarkable third down catch late in the game by Andre Johnson....one of the best in the game.
A circus game clinching catch by rookie DeAndre Hopkins in overtime.
Keep in mind there was excellent coverage on both receptions...the Texans made the play...and Tennessee didn't.
Even if you are disappointed, this loss shouldn't sting like last year's 0-2 start. Tennessee is set to begin a three game home stand...and Music City will be more than fired up to root on their Titans as the Chargers come to town.
From what we've seen of the Chargers (1-1) so far...as well as the division (Titans tied for second place / a game and a half out of the division lead) there is no reason to throw in the towel after yesterday's meltdown in H Town.
If anything, Tennessee (and their fans) should be looking forward to their week 3 match up with San Diego. The Titans have actually opened as a 3 point favorite.
If Vegas is giving Tennessee the benefit of the doubt, fans should too. follow @plcolter

Fantasy Focus: Week 2: One Week Wonder?
Whatup football family?!? Welcome to week 2 of the fantasy football season! It's always nice to start with a win, but if you took an L last week....don't worry. We're back with some news you can use heading into week 2.
Last week we saw some unfamiliar names put up quality numbers. This week we'll profile a few of them, and let you know if this player is worth a roster spot...or if he's a one week wonder (fluke). Keep in mind...we're not calling the player a bust, we're just suggesting that he'll need to show you a lil more before cutting one of your drafted players to add him.
All aboard?.....then LETS....GET....STARTED!!!!!
Jared Cook: TE, St. Louis
Cook came out swinging in his Rams debut. The former Tennessee Titan lit up the Arizona Cardinals for 7/141/2. A lost fumble prevented a third touchdown. Cook is definitely worth a roster spot, and here's why. Cook was originally drafted by current Rams head coach Jeff Fisher, with the vision of using him as a big slot receiver. Now that Cook and Fisher have been reunited in St. Louis, expect to see more of the same from him the entire year. Cook showed flashes of greatness in Tennessee, but was grossly miscast as a blocking tight end after Fisher's departure. Cook should flourish in the Rams system.
Harry Douglas: WR, Atlanta
Douglas had a respectable 4 catches for 93 yards last week in New Orleans. Douglas is worth a look this week, especially if you currently own Roddy White. Douglas is usually the third receiver, but White is dealing with a high ankle sprain, and was ineffective last week. White even said himself (and I'm paraphrasing)...To you fantasy owners...if I don't practice...that's a bad sign.
White didn't practice yesterday.
If Roddy can't go, then Douglas may be a week two sleeper. The Rams were lit up through the air last week, and qb Matt Ryan will be airing it out.
Some news you can use from the panel.
Danny "DP" Padilla (Deep Deep Sleepers): Jerome Simpson: WR, Minnesota.
Adrian Peterson stole the show with his three touchdown performance, so few people noticed that wr Jerome Simpson went off for 7/140. So should he be worthy of consideration this week?
DP said don't do it. Simpson is a One Week Wonder!!!! Consider the fact that Simpson had 274 yds receiving all of last year, and a whopping zero touchdowns. Vikings QB Christian Ponder is inconsistent, and Simpson, even with last week's performance, is nothing more than a fourth offensive option. And that's saying something in Minnesota.
Michael Jasso (Michigan Wolverines): Julian Edleman: WR, New England
Edleman, of all people, bailed out the Patriots last week with his 7 catch, 79 yd, 2 td performance. Edleman is worth strong consideration this week (tonight), especially if you own Danny Amendola. The Patriots keep losing offensive skill players, so Edleman wins by default. Not a bad consolation prize when the qb is Tom Brady. New England lost their starting rb last week, so they may have to throw even more. Amendola will not play tonight, so Edleman has sleeper value...with huge upside this week.
Nick Johnson (NewYorkNick): Brian Hartline: WR, Miami
Brian Hartline came through in the clutch last week for the Dolphins, putting up 8/114/1. Hartline benefited from the arrival of free agent wr Mike Wallace. Hartline saw man to man coverage for most of the game, and took advantage of it. With Wallace's speed and athleticism, it's safe to assume that Hartline will get every opportunity to see similar coverage...and post similar numbers this week. The Colts gave up over 300 total yards to qb Terrelle Pryor last week. Miami should be able to throw.
***HOMER ALERT***
If you plan on starting San Diego rb Ryan Matthews this week, then you....my friend...are on homer alert. Matthews' stats last week...as dismal as they were...got a boost from his first career td reception. An alarming fact from last week, Matthews saw 20 snaps. His back up, Ronnie Brown, saw 25. Throw in 10 touches from Danny Woodhead and you look like the Saints backfield.
The Eagles held last year's most potent rushing offense (Washington) to less than 80 yards on the ground last week. This may be a time to sit Matthews, especially if you have quality depth. You may need to see how the rb rotation plays out before risking it.
Life is a sport....so always play to win!! Good luck!

Good luck!

Fantasy Football Focus: Wk 1 Rookies
"Every year at this time, we line the fantasy football hallways and peer into the pool of talent...wanting to see who will be the next rookie positional player that will take their team to the next level. We fantasize on drafting a player in the final rounds...then celebrating when they come from nowhere and become our knight in shining armor. Reminds me a lot of Russian Roulette. So without further ado, let’s spin the chamber and pull the trigger". - New York Nick.
Well said my friend....
Whatup football family?!?!? Welcome (back) to an all new season of fantasy football. With no significant post draft injuries, starting lineups will largely reflect their draft tier. But the TakeOver boys never deal in the obvious. Obvious wins games...gems win playoff games!!'
The family has grown...and I can personally say two things about our new editions.
1. They all can ball.
2. They are just as passionate as Nick and myself when it comes to helping you get yo brag on...fantasy style.
With that being said, we'll take a look at a few rookies worth keeping an eye on as the first leg of our season begins. So...without further ado....
LETS...GET...STARTED!!!!
New York Nick says: DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Houston Texans.
His thoughts....
"When has Matt Shaub ever had a crumb of talent opposite of Andre Johnson?
Exactly, never.
Last year at Clemson, DeAndre Hopkins had 82 receptions for 1,405 yards with 18 touchdowns, making him one of the best receivers in the nation. Hopkins also ranked second in receiving touchdowns, and fourth in total receiving yards. With a receiver that has shown that he can put up big boy numbers, what better place could you ask for than lining up alongside of one of the best, but injury prone receivers in the NFL (Andre Johnson)."
Danny DP Padilla (Deep Deep Sleepers): Tavon Austin, WR, St. Louis Rams
Last year at West Virginia, Austin put up an insane 2,910 combined yards and 17 tds. And he did that in all three phases of the game (rushing, receiving, and return yards.)
Considering the fact that Austin will be used in similar fashion right away in St Louis, he is definitely worth putting at the top of your reserve board. If your league scores for return yards, then Austin may be worth starting flex consideration. Austin already has an 81 yard yard kick off return under his belt this preseason, and the Arizona Cardinals were 24th in return yard coverage last year.
Michael Jasso (Michigan Wolverines): Eddie Lacy, RB, Green Bay
Lacy has just as much ability as his Bama predecessor Trent Richardson, and has tremendous upside playing in the Packers high flying offense. If healthy, Lacy should get plenty of opportunities to score. Lacy is also listed as the starter, which is important. Mike cautions against starting Lacy this week though. San Francisco had the fourth best rushing defense a year ago, giving up less than 95 yards a game. And they're all back for week 1.
Rigo Carranza (Get Kaep'd): Quinton Patton, WR, San Francisco 49ers.
Rigo says to keep an eye on 49ers wr Quinton Patton. Last year Patton put up gaudy stats at Louisiana Tech, and is rapidly moving up the depth chart. Patton made the most of his preseason opportunities, catching a td in every game he played. He also averaged 34 yards on kick returns, an attractive upside for leagues that score for return yards. Rigo says that Patton is a gem stash...low risk with the potential of a high reward.
Homer Alert: And yes, we cannot conclude a show without our homer alert. First up to bat this season, none other than Mr. RGIII.
Yes, he is a phenomenal player. Yes, he says that he will start week 1. And yes, RGIII can lead your team to a fantasy title. But the man hasn't been NFL hit since January, and the rival Eagles won't be looking to play two hand touch. If you drafted well, and you have a quality backup qb with a good match up, you may want to consider that option this week...at least until you can see with your own two eyes that he's the RGIII that you drafted.
Life is a sport...so always play to win. Good luck this week!

Tennessee Titans: What do we know?
Titans fans and followers, the preseason is officially in the books, and we can finally look forward to games that actually count. The 53 man roster is 98% set, and all eyes are on the hated Pittsburgh Steelers. Prior to the start of camp, we profiled several positions. Today, we revisit those positions to see if we've found out anything new about this year's "new look" Titans.
Quarterback: Coming into camp, the biggest question concerning the Titans was the evolution of starting qb Jake Locker. There were questions about his accuracy and playing style. The Titans were also hampered by Locker's turnovers and inefficiency on third down last year.
This preseason Locker has improved dramatically in two of those categories....accuracy and turnovers. Locker completed 67% of his passes this preseason , that's over 10 percentage points higher than his career average. Locker also did not throw a pick all preseason. On the flip side, Locker only threw one td as well, and often checked the ball down (threw to a closer receiver) instead of stretching the defense. That completion percentage could be padded.
At the very least, there is optimism that Locker has improved to the point that he will not cost Tennessee games like he did in the past. Free agent signee Ryan Fitzpatrick proved to be an upgrade over last year's backup Matt Hasselbeck.
Running Backs: Any questions on whether Chris Johnson and newly acquired Shonn Greene could coexist were put to bed early...and often this preseason. Johnson was the unquestioned starter, and looked explosive right from the beginning of camp. Greene has done what he was brought in to do, convert on third and fourth down short yardage plays.
Credit a newly revamped offensive line for opening up huge holes for Johnson and Greene all preseason. And the Titans also found a gem in free agent running back Jackie Battle. This is a throwback Titan for sure. Battle tore through defenses with his down hill running style all preseason. His physical style of play could be just what the doctor ordered for closing out games. That is...if Tennessee has the lead of course. The Titans have a three headed monster at running back, arguably the best set in the league. The Titans should be fine there.
Wide Receivers: Coming into training camp, the wide receiver corp was said to be the most talented since the team moved to Nashville. To date, the jury is still out on this unit. Last year's breakout receiver Kendall Wright was sidelined with an injury. He hopes to play week 1. Prized free agent tight end Delanie Walker saw his first (albeit limited) action in last week's game against the Vikings due to his own injury. And free agent signee Kevin Walters has yet to see any playing time because of an injury. Rookie second round pick Justin Hunter has improved each week, catching touchdowns his last two games.
This unit will not have played together until this coming week. We'll know more come Sunday afternoon in Pittsburgh.
Defense: This unit we do know about, and it looks like...for the most part...the same ole defense. Tennessee's starting defensive unit was...once gain...gashed on the ground the entire preseason. The opposing starting units marched down the field at will...and scored with relative ease. Yes, the sacks and turnovers were an encouraging sign...but Tennessee has two conerbacks (Alturan Verner and Tommy Campbell) fighting for a starting job...and both are trying to literally give the job to the other.
The problem is...the other is playing just as bad...so he couldn't take the job if he wanted to....
Let me move on.....
One thing in the defense's favor (at least this week)...is the fact that Pittsburgh's offense has looked just as terrible throughout the preseason.
So...from what we know about the Titans this preseason, it looks like a heavy dose of the three headed monster may be the recipe for success this Sunday.

History should be kind to Vince Young, Tim Tebow
As unfortunate as it is, it's only fitting that Vince Young and Tim Tebow were cut from their respective teams on the same day. Their football careers are too eerily similar to suggest otherwise. Both men have won on every level, both men were hand picked in the first round. Both had immediate success, and both are on the outside looking in.
Again.
With their credentials and experience, it's hard to imagine that VY and Tim Tebow cannot beat out the third string qb's in this league. Both men are healthy.
So what gives?
When Vince Young was drafted by the Titans in 06 (at the demand of owner Bud Adams), the franchise was in the middle of it's first losing slump since moving to Tennessee. The people of Nashville were spoiled with the 99 team and their immediate success. Losing lead to a lack of interest from the casual fan that still hadn't bought in.
Vince Young came in for a struggling Kerry Collins, and immediately energized the city with electrifying play after electrifying play. Young couldn't read a defense, even if he had bifocals on, but he would somehow get it done. The Titans went on a roll after that, and Young went on to become the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. The Titans also returned to the playoffs with Young under center. VY had a record of 31-19 as a starter in Tennessee. The Titans have not returned to the playoffs since Young's departure.
When Tim Tebow was selected by Denver in the first round of the 2010 draft (at the demand of then head coach Josh McDaniels), the Broncos were going through their own slump. Tebow came in for a struggling Kyle Orton, and immediately electrified the city with winning play after winning play. Tebow can't read a defense either, and is no where near accurate, but he's a winner. Somehow, someway, we finds a way to win. Tebow had a winning record of 8-6 as a starter in Denver, and has a playoff victory over Pittsburgh under his belt.
That don't count for nothin?
Not even a back up position? In a league that's trending toward mobile qbs?
Forget starting, they're not even making the rosters anymore. And that's a bad sign. I can think of a few teams that should start Young or Tebow over the one they're trolling out there week one....
But I digress.
No, I am not saying that Young and Tebow didn't have their share of flaws and red flags. Some self imposed...some media driven.
I'm just saying that both these men are healthy, in the prime of their careers age wise, and have won games at the NFL level as a starting qb. It's mind boggling to think that Vince Young and Tim Tebow's playing careers may be over.....already.
If so, hopefully history will be kind to them. They both made their mark on the game of football.
