Coach K, Duke, in the eye of the storm

Duke head basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski was hot under the collar last night. Not so much becasuse of his team being upset by lowly Virginia. Coach K is becoming increasingly annoyed with opposing home fans storming the court every time Duke comes to town and takes an L. Krzyzewski's frustrations boiled over in his post game semi rant last night.

 Quote from coach K.

"When we've lost in the last 20 years, everybody rushes the court."

Well...that's true. Go on...

"I'm always concerned about stuff like that, especially at this time of the year. What if that happened and we get a kid suspended? That becomes the national story. It's not all fun and games when people are rushing the court, especially for the team that lost."

Ok...I see your point coach K. All four Duke road losses this season resulted in the home fans bum rushing the basketball court. But you are worried about the wrong thing Mr.Krzyzewski.

Your team took a devastating conference loss while sitting at number 3 in the nation. Number 1 Indiana lost a few days earlier, number 4 Michigan lost the day before, and reasonable minds could conclude that Duke would get enough votes to leapfrog lesser known Gonzaga, who currently sits at number 2. This was a blown chance to enter the home stretch of the regular season with a solid lock on a number 1 seed in the national tournament.

There's still time left for Duke to turn it around. But coach K, focus more on winning games and less on being a sore loser. Stop worrying about the cable bill while the house is on fire.   follow @plcolter
